Our Preacher

Our Preacher

Ross Oldenkamp currently serves as a full-time evangelist with the Northern Kentucky Church of Christ in Florence, KY. He is supported in this work by his wife (Laura) of twenty-three years, with whom he has three daughters and a son.

Ross preached his first sermon in 1996, at the age of sixteen, three years after he was baptized into Christ. By the age of eighteen he was determined to devote his life’s work to this noble cause. He preached by appointment for six churches in his home state of Oregon before being invited to Fayetteville, AR to receive three years of formal preacher training. The invaluable instruction was administered by Berry Kercheville, who had been preaching for 30 years, and had already produced three full-time gospel preachers, who are still preaching to this day. Berry literally wrote the book on training preachers titled: “Preparing the Young Man to Preach.” The program was generously supported by the Old Wire Road Church of Christ in Fayetteville, AR. It was during this program that Ross had the opportunity twice to accompany his father-in-law Alan Hitchen to Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Botswana to share the Good News with the hungry souls in southern Africa.

Following Ross’ formal training, he preached for two years in beautiful Destin, Florida, after which they moved to Tulsa, OK where he preached for the Woodland Hills Church of Christ for eight years. From Tulsa, Ross and Laura moved to Texas where he preached for five years with the Twin City Church of Christ in College Station, during which time he particularly enjoyed working with many college-aged Christians on and off campus of Texas A&M University. The Lord blessed them with many seed-sowing opportunities, the increase of quite a few new converts, restored believers, and re-energized young people in the work of evangelism.

Since 2018 the Oldenkamps have considered themselves to be quite at home, being very fortunate to serve with such a loving and supportive congregation as the Northern Kentucky Church of Christ. They look forward to what the Lord may have in store for the future with this very knowledgeable and hard-working group. To God be the glory!
